Kiki Layne wears Gucci for a special cover of Autumn 2020 Issue.
The If Beale Street Could Talk actor is starring in Netflix’s new action thriller
The Old Guard, adapted from Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez’s comic
book series of the same name, alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor and
Charlize Theron. Exploring what it means to be superhuman, the
Gina Prince-Bythewood-directed film follows a group of immortal
mercenaries, including Layne’s character Nile — a U.S. Marine and their
newest recruit — who has just discovered her gift. In our interview,
available to read online now, the actor reflects on the importance of
Black representation in Hollywood, the physicality of her role as Nile,
and her upcoming part in the cult classic sequel, Coming 2 America.
