INDYA MOORE COVERS WONDERLAND’S SUMMER 2020 ISSUE
It was late 2017 when FX’s Pose first hit out screens. The
brainchild of Glee, American Horror Story and Hollywood
director Ryan Murphy and pioneering writer Janet Mock,
the show pulled down the curtain on New York City’s
legendary ballroom scene in the late 80s, and paid rightful
dues to Harlem’s Black and Latino LGBTQ+ communities
for the first time since Jenny Livingstone’s Paris Is Burning.
Revered for its authentic, humanising portrayals of queer
hardship and breaking records for the largest transgender
cast in a scripted tv show, the show was an instant
success, with non-binary actor and model Indya Moore
quickly becoming one of it’s many breakout stars.
Since then, Moore has acquired a cultural relevancy
most could only dream of, snagging roles in Queen & Slim,
Steven Universe and even a spot on the Time 100.
Covering our Summer 2020 Issue, the Bronx-born actor takes
stock of these last few years in the spotlight, recounting the
many highs and lows.
