Margaret Qualley was away from home visiting family when she got the call: “Will
you come and do a chemistry read with Brad Pitt?”
Starring in Quentin Tarantino’s forthcoming film Once Upon a Time in
Hollywood alongside Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie and Lena Dunham,
the 24-year old actress is about to experience a life-changing summer.
Qualley didn’t start acting until her late teens, but swiftly landed roles in high-profile
projects across TV, film and fashion, including The Leftovers, Native
Son, Netflix’s IO and, most recently, sparkly miniseries Fosse/Verdon - where she
played her childhood idol Ann Reinking (the legendary performer you might
remember from Annie and All That Jazz), alongside Michelle Williams and Sam
Rockwell.
Before the film drops in August, we talked to the rising star about working with her
heroes, overcoming shyness, that fateful call from Tarantino and what’s to come.
